Overview

Wi-Fi 7 is a gigantic enhancement over all its former Wi-Fi standards, also known as 802.11be EHT(Extremely High Throughput), is still in the early stages of development and is expected to be released in early 2023. This new standard is built on existing Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) and Wi-Fi 6E (802.11ax) technologies, which were released in 2019 and 2020, respectively. The Wi-Fi 7 enables multifarious enhanced data rates, improved coverage, reduced latency, and much more. It is power-efficient with longer battery life of devices when connected to a Wi-Fi 7 network.

The Wi-Fi 7(802.11be) supports data rates of up to 46 Gbps, which is four times faster than the maximum speed of 9.6 Gbps provided by Wi-Fi 6 and 6E. Furthermore, Wi-Fi 7 networks are designed to reduce latency, making streaming and gaming experiences much more smoother and enjoyable. Wi-Fi 7 supports double bandwidth and higher spatial streams.

Why should users switch to Wi-Fi 7?

For new users, Wi-Fi 7 provides fast internet speeds by which one can enjoy their favorite activities with fewer delays or interruptions. It also has better coverage i.e. it can reach more devices and handle more simultaneous connections. Wi-Fi 7 also offers improved power efficiency which will help extend the battery life of devices connected to it. From a technical viewpoint, there are significant enhancements observed in Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access (OFDMA), where complete channels are divided into multiple resource units (MRU) and that is implemented more effectively in the Wi-Fi 7 standard, knocking down the interference and latency.

Therefore, the above-listed facts make Wi-Fi 7 a must-have for anyone who wants seamless, reliable, and fast internet access.

Multi-Link Capabilities

Wi-Fi 7 supports three frequency bands, including 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz similar to Wi-Fi 6E, and utilizes two simultaneous bands 5GHz + 6GHz to support 320MHz bandwidth channels to maximize the throughput, offering extremely high throughput and speeds. It can easily make use of these two closely spaced bands (5GHz and 6 GHz ) to create a single wider channel that can offer excellent performance without much latency to support this new feature, called Multi-Link Operation (MLO) in Wi-Fi 7.

Furthermore, Wi-Fi 7 has improved multi-user, multiple-input and multiple-output (MU-MIMO) GHz networks and features with increased wireless data rates, greater range, and better power efficiency, which allows multiple users to connect simultaneously to the same network without any interference. Additionally, it includes advanced beamforming techniques that allow users to have enhanced coverage and improved connection quality in difficult environments.

Wi-Fi 7 also provides improved network management features. With the help of advanced router software, users can monitor their networks more easily, set parental controls, prioritize certain types of traffic, and even manage remotely. This makes the management of large networks easier and more efficient.

Enhanced Security

In addition to the aforementioned advantages, Wi-Fi 7 offers enhanced security features. The WPA3 protocol, which is the highest security protocol currently available for Wi-Fi networks, is now supported by Wi-Fi 7 devices. This protocol provides additional authentication, encryption, and intrusion detection capabilities to ensure that your network remains secure. Moreover, Wi-Fi 7 also enables other advanced security features, such as device tracking and location support, which can help protect your devices and data from being stolen or misused.

Considering the above-listed points, Wi-Fi 7 is an excellent option for anyone looking to take advantage of the latest advances in wireless networking technology. Its improved speed, coverage, security, and management capabilities make it an ideal choice for households and businesses alike.
